CM Mamata’s sharp words on President Murmu’s visit to Bengal, accused of running BJP’s agenda
Kolkata, March 7. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given a sharp reaction to the visit of President Draupadi Murmu. She said on Saturday that she respects the President, but even if someone comes 50 times, it is not possible to attend every program. She is currently sitting on a dharna and had no knowledge about the program being mentioned.
The President had expressed displeasure over protocol not being followed
It is noteworthy that President Draupadi Murmu, who reached West Bengal today to attend the ninth International Santhal Conference, had expressed her displeasure over the small venue. The President had also expressed grief over the fact that the Chief Minister or no minister of the state government was present to welcome him as per the prescribed protocol. He had said that he personally has no objection to this, but the protocol set for the President of the country should be followed.
The state government had no information about Santhal Conference.
At present, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that no information was given to the state government regarding the organizers, funding or organization of that program. He said that whenever the President comes or goes to the state, he gets information about it, but he had no information about the related international conference nor was the state government a part of that program.
‘Even if someone comes 50 times, it is not possible to attend every program’
CM Mamata said, ‘If you come once a year, I can welcome you, but if you come during elections, it will not be possible for me to attend your program because I will be busy with people’s rights.’ He also said that the information given to the President about the absence of state representatives in his program was incorrect. It is not always possible for them to attend such programs before elections.
The President was sent to carry forward the agenda of BJP
Attacking the President, the Chief Minister said that he was ashamed to say that the President has been sent to further the BJP’s agenda. He alleged that the President has fallen into the trap of BJP’s policies. He said that BJP’s priority is politics while their priority is the people.
Why were you silent during atrocities against tribals in Manipur, Rajasthan and Maharashtra??
Mamta questioned the President and said that when atrocities were being committed against tribals in Manipur, why was the President silent? He also asked why the President did not raise questions in the cases of alleged atrocities against tribals in Rajasthan and Maharashtra?
Advice given not to do politics before elections
While giving advice to President Murmu, CM Banerjee said that politics should not be done with him before the elections. He said that the state government had not tried to stop any event nor had any connection with that event. He reiterated that his government’s priority is the well-being of the people of the state. BJP gives priority to politics while their government keeps the interests of the people above all.
