CM Mann inaugurates Startup Punjab Conclave 2026 at Lovely Professional University, appeals to youth to become employment creators

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the state’s first Startup Punjab Conclave 2026 at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Kapurthala. This program was organized to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and youth-led economic development. On this occasion, the Chief Minister clarified that the aim of the Punjab Government is to make the youth employment creators instead of making them mere job seekers.

Special opportunities and support for startups
More than 100 startups participated in the conclave and seed grants and other financial assistance were announced for them. The Chief Minister said that special incentives have been given to eight startups, in which seven were given seed grant of Rs 3 lakh each and lease rental assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh each. Apart from this, the Government of Punjab brought together investors, industrialists and academic experts on one platform to convey the message of encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.

Inspired youth to become job creators
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the future of Punjab does not lie in searching for jobs but in adopting entrepreneurship. He urged the youth to give commercial form to their ideas and create a distinct identity for themselves. He said that Punjabi people are engineers and born entrepreneurs by nature, hence they will definitely get success if given the right guidance and opportunity.

Japan travel experience and global perspective
The Chief Minister shared the experiences of his visit to Japan and said that the country progresses only with a clear vision and planning for the future. Citing the example of single window system of transport and public services in Japan, he said that Punjabi youth should also adopt such approach to excel at the global level. Citing the hard work and positive mentality of Japanese citizens, he said that these qualities are inspiring for the success and longevity of Punjabis.

Startup ecosystem recognized on global platform
Through this conclave, the Punjab government tried to showcase the state’s rapidly developing startup ecosystem at the global level. Incubators, investors, policy makers and academic experts were present in the program. The Chief Minister said that this platform is important to highlight the achievements of the youth and inspire other entrepreneurs.

Government Initiatives and Industrial Collaboration
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government has implemented the Industrial and Business Development Policy 2022, which provides a transparent and strong framework to the entrepreneurs. He said that women-led startups and new enterprises are being given priority in the state. Additionally, Punjab’s strong industrial base and excellent infrastructure is conducive to innovation and startup growth.

Youth Leadership, Innovation and Inclusive Development
The Chief Minister called upon the youth to stay away from short-term fame and make valuable contribution to the society. Giving examples, he said that even small and practical ideas can turn into big business and employment generation. He said that the Punjab government is working like a runway to give flight to the dreams of the youth.

Completion and long-term vision
Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Rajya Sabha member Ashok Mittal and other dignitaries were present in the conclave. The Chief Minister encouraged startups to work towards sustainable and inclusive economic growth through innovation and entrepreneurship. He said that the future of Punjab will be based on innovation, technological advancement and youth leadership.
