Bhopal: Controversy regarding rhetoric has once again intensified in Indian politics. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav strongly condemned the recent statement of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, saying that such comments are against the national interest and may cause political loss to the Congress party.
The Chief Minister said that in the current global circumstances, when the world is facing many challenges, the leaders of the country should give statements with responsibility. He alleged that the Congress leadership is repeatedly using language which is not in line with democratic traditions.
Controversy over rhetoric amid global situation
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that at present there is a tense situation at the international level and the situation of conflict between many countries has affected the global economy and energy supply. In such a time, the efforts of the Government of India should be appreciated. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has tried to maintain a balance in energy supply, transportation and management of essential resources amid the international situation.
According to the Chief Minister, ensuring supply of resources from foreign countries in difficult circumstances and protecting the interests of citizens is a major achievement of the government.
Strong reaction on Rahul Gandhi’s statement
Terming Rahul Gandhi’s remarks as “irresponsible”, the Chief Minister said political parties should exercise restraint while speaking on national and international issues. He said that if the opposition continues to use such language, the public will respond to it in the elections. The Chief Minister also said that Congress should play a constructive role on issues of national interest and not just criticize.
He warned that if the party leadership does not change its rhetoric, the political position of the Congress may further weaken.
What did Rahul Gandhi say?
This controversy started with the statement in which Rahul Gandhi had raised questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of foreign policy and energy security. He had alleged that the government had taken decisions under international pressure, which could affect the interests of the country. Rahul Gandhi also said that India should adopt an independent policy in decisions related to energy import and trade. He said that these issues should be discussed in Parliament, but he did not get adequate opportunity to express his views.
After this statement, the political conflict between the ruling party and the opposition has intensified. The ruling party says that the government is working to keep the country safe amid the global crisis, while the opposition is raising questions on the policies of the government.
