Nitish government’s special step for sugarcane farmers, will get subsidy on purchase of machines
Bihar News: Bihar government is encouraging farmers towards modern farming to increase sugarcane production in the state. In this sequence, Sugarcane Mechanization Scheme is being run by the Sugarcane Industry Department, under which farmers are being given subsidy for purchasing agricultural equipment. The last date for online application for this scheme has been fixed as 26th December. Interested sugarcane farmers can avail the benefits of this scheme by applying within the stipulated time limit.
This is the main objective of the scheme
The main objective of the scheme is to make sugarcane cultivation easier, reduce the production cost of farmers and increase their income. The department believes that the use of modern machines will save both time and labor in farming, which will also increase production.
According to the Sugarcane Industry Department, under the scheme, individual sugarcane farmers will be given a subsidy of up to 50 percent of the fixed price on the purchase of identified agricultural equipment. This includes modern equipment related to sugarcane sowing, harvesting and other works. This will provide financial assistance to farmers in purchasing expensive equipment.
Additional facilities to backward classes
At the same time, the government has also provided additional facilities for socially backward classes. Apart from the normal grant, 10 percent additional grant will be given to farmers belonging to Extremely Backward Class, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe. This means that farmers of these categories will get more overall benefit on the purchase of equipment.
Special provision also for establishment of sugarcane machinery bank
Along with this, the government has also made special provisions for the establishment of Sugarcane Machinery Bank. There is a provision of giving up to 70 percent subsidy on group purchase of sugarcane equipment to sugar mills, PACS, Jeevika Group, FPO and Atma Group to open an equipment bank in the sugar mill area. Its objective is that small and marginal farmers can also use modern equipment on rent.
This appeal of the department to the farmers
The Sugarcane Industry Department has appealed to the farmers not to wait for the last date and apply online in time. With this, eligible farmers will be able to get the grant amount on time and sugarcane production will get further boost in the state. This initiative of the government is being considered an important step towards making farming profitable by connecting farmers with technology.
