Patna: There is going to be a big change in the politics of Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar may soon become a Rajya Sabha MP. Sources associated with Janata Dal United (JDU) have confirmed this.

According to sources, Nishant Kumar will enter the Upper House in place of Ramnath Thakur. Ramnath Thakur’s tenure has completed and this time the party is not sending him again.

Nishant’s entry in politics decided

There was talk of Nishant Kumar entering active politics for a long time. Just before Holi, senior JDU leader and cabinet minister Shravan Kumar approved it. He said that Nishant’s entry will happen very soon and it will be in active politics.

For many years, the youth workers of the party and lakhs of youth wanted to see him in politics. Shravan Kumar said that the wish of the youth will be fulfilled soon and Nishant has a bright future.

5 Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar

Elections are to be held on 5 Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar. Of these, two seats are likely to go to JDU and two to BJP. NDA alliance is hoping to win all the seats. Ramnath Thakur is a senior leader of JDU.

He is the son of Jannayak Karpoori Thakur and has previously been a cabinet minister in the Bihar government. In 2005, he also became the Sugarcane Minister in Nitish government. Now Nishant is getting a chance in his place.

What is the situation on other seats?

Those whose terms are ending from Bihar include JDU’s Ramnath Thakur and Harivansh Narayan Singh. Opposition party RJD has also announced to contest the elections. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has talked about fielding a candidate. Although RJD has less numbers in the assembly, it has only 25 MLAs. Even with the grand alliance partners, he is not getting the required numbers. There may be a contest on the fifth seat.

Ramnath Thakur has also been a member of Bihar Legislative Council. He is an experienced leader and has a strong hold in JDU, earlier there were speculations that he would go to Rajya Sabha for the third time, but now the party has chosen Nishant. Nominations for Rajya Sabha elections will be filed till March 6. JDU is trying to retain two seats. BJP has also considered its candidates. This election will bring a new stir in the politics of Bihar.
