Children of workers will also make their dreams fly… CM Rekha Gupta transferred education assistance of Rs 12.40 crore directly into bank accounts.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday launched the financial assistance program for children of construction workers and several development projects related to villages at Tyagraj Stadium. On this occasion, the Chief Minister transferred educational assistance amounting to more than Rs 12.40 crore directly into the bank accounts of 15,706 children of construction workers. Also, newly constructed Panchayat houses were inaugurated in two villages of Delhi.
Apart from this, 59 new development projects were started in 37 villages, the total estimated cost of which is Rs 134 crore. Addressing thousands of workers present at the programme, the Chief Minister said that Delhi is not built only by buildings and roads, but by the labor of workers. The responsibility for the safety, respect and future of the hands that shape Delhi is the priority of our government.
Delhi Labor and Employment Minister Kapil Mishra, Delhi Rural Development Board Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, senior officials of the Labor Department and many public representatives were present in the program. Remembering the death anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay ji, the Chief Minister said that our government is working on the principle of ‘Antyodaya’, which means empowering the person standing in the last line of the society. Sharing the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that power is not a means for us to enjoy, but a medium of service.
The Chief Minister said that the previous governments never properly utilized the huge cess funds collected for the welfare of the workers. Previous governments never paid attention to the poor, but our government has dedicated its 365 days to the laborers who are toiling for Delhi. Only when the workers are strong, Delhi will become strong.
financial assistance scheme
The Chief Minister said that Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (DBOCWWB) is running an education assistance scheme for the children of registered construction workers, so that financial constraints do not become a hindrance in their studies. Under this scheme, assistance of Rs 500/month is given to children of classes 1 to 8, Rs 700/month to students of 9th and 10th, Rs 1,000/month to students of 11th and 12th and Rs 3,000/month to students studying at graduation level. Whereas students studying in technical courses like ITI, Polytechnic, Engineering, Medical and MBA are provided financial assistance of up to Rs 10,000/month.
Labor Welfare and Labor Reforms
The minimum wage in Delhi has been set at the highest level in the country, at Rs 18,456 per month for unskilled workers, Rs 20,371 for semi-skilled workers and Rs 22,411 for skilled workers. More than 44 labor laws are being effectively implemented in the state to ensure protection of workers’ rights. Helpline 155214 has been started to assist the workers. Apart from this, more than 36 lakh unorganized workers have been registered on the e-Shram portal. Through 72 special campaigns against child labour, 1,028 children have been freed from child labour.
Initiative of Delhi Rural Development Board
New impetus has been given to the development work of rural areas by reorganizing the Delhi Rural Development Board. Under this, proposals for 776 projects were given, whose estimated cost is Rs 1715.05 crore. Of these, administrative approval worth Rs 1,556 crore was given to 705 projects. Also, Rs 157 crore has been released as first installment for 702 projects. Roads, ponds, parks, crematoriums, chaupals, libraries and community buildings are being developed through these projects. The Chief Minister said that the villages of Delhi were neglected in the last 10 years, to change which the government had already made a provision of Rs 1000 crore in the budget. Today, construction of roads, chaupals, procession houses, open gyms and parks is being ensured in villages through 705 projects.
The Chief Minister further said that this is not just an announcement of schemes, but an effort to deliver results at the ground level. He expressed confidence that by working on these three pillars of labor welfare, education and rural development, Delhi will be taken forward in the direction of developed Delhi and developed India. He said that our government is committed to empowering the lives of workers and their families with the resolve to serve.
On this occasion, Labor and Employment Minister Kapil Mishra said that in the last years the work of labor related departments had come to a standstill. But now rapid improvements are being made. All the labor courts of Delhi are being converted into e-courts. The process of registration of construction workers has been expedited, skill development programs are being initiated, modern tools and safety equipment are being made available. Women workers have been allowed to work in any shift 24 hours. Apart from this, development works that have been stalled for years in the rural areas of Delhi are now being taken up on a large scale, many of which were inaugurated and the foundation stone laid today.
