CM Vijay reached Karur after 9 months of stampede! Said, ‘I trusted the police, they put the blame on me’

Chennai: Nine months have passed since the Karur stampede. 41 people died in this accident and it also affected the politics of the state. On Friday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay reached Karur for the first time after becoming CM. Here he handed over appointment letters to the victims’ families and spoke openly on this tragedy.

"I will never forget the pain of cruelty"   

Vijay, dressed in black from head to toe, looked emotional at the meeting. He said, "The Karur stampede caused a lot of pain. We lost our sisters’ children." This incident took place during TVK’s election rally in Velusamypuram. Thousands of supporters gathered in the rally. 41 people, including children and young fans, were killed in the stampede, while more than 100 people were injured.

CBI is currently investigating the case. Vijay said that he still feels the burden of this loss. TVK will also build a memorial in Karur in memory of the victims. He said, "Cruelty will never come out of my heart."  

Targeted at police and DMK  

Vijay vehemently rejected allegations that his party was responsible for the deaths. He said that it was the job of the police to manage the crowd. Vijay said, "I trusted the police to control the crowd, yet I was held responsible for the deaths." His allegation was that if the authorities had informed about the deteriorating situation earlier, this tragedy could have been prevented. instead of "drama" done and the blame was put on others.

He met DMK and CM M.K. Stalin was also attacked. Vijay said that the DMK tried to stop him from meeting the victims’ families. he adds, "You are talking as if you are still in power. Your party is out of power and TVK is in power."  

DMK had filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding that Vijay be stopped from influencing witnesses during the tour. But after the court’s rebuke, the party withdrew the petition.

Statement given regarding by-election  

Vijay also raised questions on DMK’s tenure. He alleged that "Scam in every department" This happened and the prices of government tenders were fixed at inflated prices. Referring to the Karur assembly by-election, he asked the people to support DMK. "befitting reply" Appealed to give. This seat is held by former AIADMK minister M.R. Vacant after Vijayabhaskar’s resignation and joining TVK.
