CM will give a big gift on July 8, 10 lakh teachers and employees will get security cover, know complete details here

There is good news for the teachers and employees of Uttar Pradesh. On Wednesday, the Yogi government of the state is going to give a big security cover to 10 lakh teachers, Shikshamitras and contractual workers. Permanent employees whose salary is more than Rs 10,000 will be given a group term life insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh.

In fact, on July 8, 2026, an important agreement (MOU) is going to be signed between the Basic Education Department and State Bank of India (SBI) in Varanasi in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under this, 4.50 lakh permanent and 5.50 lakh contractual teachers, Shikshamitras, instructors, Samagra Shiksha, Mid Day Meal Scheme and other personnel will join the special salary package of SBI.

Benefits to permanent employees

  • Permanent teachers and employees will get personal accident insurance cover up to Rs 1 crore.
  • ​Group term life insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh, permanent disability cover of Rs 1 crore and air accident insurance cover of up to Rs 1.60 crore will be provided.
  • In case of any untoward incident, add-on cover facility will also be available for children’s education and daughters’ marriage.

​Benefits available to Shikshamitras and contract workers

  • Contract employees whose monthly net salary is more than Rs 10,000 (like Shikshamitra and Instructors) will get personal accident insurance of Rs 30 lakh, permanent disability cover of Rs 30 lakh and air accident cover of Rs 30 lakh. Insurance on partial disability has been fixed at Rs 15 lakh.
  • Employees whose salary is less than Rs 10,000 (like cooks) will be provided an insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh on the basis of zero balance account and RuPay debit card.

Cashless medical scheme will also be launched

On the same day, Chief Minister Yogi will also launch the Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme for teachers. Through this scheme, cashless medical facilities will be provided to eligible teachers, Shikshamitras, instructors, cooks, KGBV wardens, subject experts and their dependent family members of the Basic and Secondary Education Department. Under this scheme, cashless treatment can be provided in all the listed private and government hospitals of the country and state. At the same time, the CM will also debit money for uniforms etc. to the children in the new academic session.
