Cow protectors will get respect under Baba’s rule, big announcement made; Emphasis also given on establishment of straw bank
CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to honor personalities who have done excellent work towards cow protection and making cow shelters self-reliant. He said that cow service is an integral part of Indian cultural tradition and people dedicated to this field should be publicly honoured. CM Yogi called a meeting of the Cow Seva Commission on Saturday.
In this meeting, while reviewing the arrangements of destitute cow shelters in detail, special emphasis was laid on the establishment of straw bank in every cow shelter. He directed to ensure availability of green fodder by coordinating with local farmers and to connect farmers associated with natural farming with cow shelter sites.
Monitoring of cow shelter will be strengthened
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave instructions to ensure constant monitoring by installing CCTV cameras in cow-shelter sites and stressed on the use of CSR funds for this. He said that technology will increase transparency. Instructions were given to Cow Service Commission and Livestock Department for regular inspection. The officials will have to visit division wise and work on ‘Bhoosa Bank’ and grazing land expansion. Every report will be sent to the CM office and surprise inspections will also be conducted.
How many cow shelters in Uttar Pradesh?
It was informed in the meeting that at present more than 12.39 lakh cows are protected in 7,527 cow shelters in Uttar Pradesh. Of these, 9.89 lakh cows are protected in 6,433 temporary sites, 1.58 lakh in 518 large cow protection centres, 77,925 in 323 Kanha cow shelters and 13,576 in 253 Kanji houses. Under the Chief Minister Partnership Scheme, 1.83 lakh cows have been handed over to 1.14 lakh beneficiaries, instructions have been given for their verification and proper maintenance.

Emphasis on cow protection and clean energy
It was told in the meeting that 97 cow dung gas plants are operating in the state, which are becoming a source of clean energy and income. The Chief Minister laid emphasis on their expansion. Products like Go-Paint, Vermi Compost by SJG and NGOs have become models of self-reliance, of which Muzaffarnagar is an example. 518 out of 630 cow protection centers have been completed. While vaccination campaigns for animals are also going on.
