CM Yogi reviewed the finance department, said- all departments should use the allocated budget on time.

Lucknow, 2 January. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday morning held a review meeting of the Finance Department regarding the expenditure of the budget released by the government to various departments in the financial year 2025-26 and instructed the departments to use the allocated budget on time. In the meeting, the half-term progress of the approvals issued by the government, allocation by the head of the department, expenditure etc., relative to the budget provision of the departments in the current financial year, was presented by the top 20 departments with more budget provision.

Yogi reviewed the presentation of 20 major departments. During this, he instructed the top officials of all the major departments that all the departments should use the allocated budget on time so that the projects and schemes can be completed on time. He said that in order to spend the budget on time, officers should develop decision-making abilities. The departments where the progress of budget expenditure is slow should speed it up.

Also, to spend the budget on time, the responsibility and accountability of each officer at every level should be fixed. Any kind of negligence will not be tolerated in this. The Chief Minister said that officers of all departments should take immediate decisions to implement the schemes on the ground. He said that due to delay in taking decisions, the budget cannot be spent on time. In such a situation, be quick in taking decisions. Yogi said that the progress of budget expenditure is slow in some departments. To speed up this, departmental ministers and officials should coordinate among themselves and hold meetings every month.

At the same time, the Chief Minister directed the Finance Department to immediately allocate the budget to those departments whose allocation of some part of the budget has not been released yet due to some reasons. He instructed the officers of all the major 20 departments to which the budget is released from the Central Government for various schemes. For this, the ministers of the department, Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary should go to Delhi and lobby the Central Government to release the budget.

The Chief Minister instructed his office to identify the departments where the progress of budget expenditure is slow and issue letters on behalf of the Chief Minister’s Office to the ministers of their departments. In the meeting, instructions were given to the Finance Department to review the budget demands by holding a meeting with all the departments regarding the budget for the next financial year 2026-27. He said that before allocating the departments in the upcoming budget, they should review the expenditure estimates of the last five years. He directed that the Finance Department should start preparations for the new action plan from now on. At the same time, better coordination should be made with the Central Government regarding the upcoming budget allocation so that the budget can be received from the Central Government on time.
