CNG Safety Tips: Drive a CNG car in summer? Always keep these 5 important things in mind
CNG Safety Tips: The scorching summer season has started in India and in this season, car care becomes very important – especially CNG cars. Compared to petrol and diesel, CNG gas expands as the temperature increases, making safety precautions even more important. If you want to travel safely and comfortably with your CNG car, then it is very important to keep these important things in mind in summer.
1) Do not overfill the cylinder
CNG gas expands due to high temperatures in summer. In such a situation, filling the tank to its full capacity can be risky. It is better that you fill the cylinder less than 2-3 kg, so that there is enough space for the gas to expand and the pressure is controlled.
2) Avoid parking the car in the sun
The temperature of a car parked in direct sunlight increases very rapidly, which can affect the CNG kit and pipes. Try to always park the car in a shady place. If this is not possible, leave the windows slightly open so that there is air flow inside.
3) Don’t forget to get hydro testing done
Hydro testing is very important for the safety of CNG cylinders. According to the rules, it is mandatory to get the cylinder checked once every 3 years. Old or weak cylinders can pose a greater risk in summer, so be sure to check its validity.
4) Check for gas leakage regularly
Special smell is added to CNG so that leakage can be detected. If you smell gas in or around the car, immediately turn off the engine and take the vehicle to a service center. It is also important to get the pipelines and kits checked from time to time.
5) Use the correct spark plug
CNG engine operates at a higher temperature than petrol, due to which the engine can overheat quickly. Therefore use good quality spark plugs. A bad plug can put extra stress on the engine and affect performance.
By adopting these easy but important tips, you can keep your CNG car safe and in better condition in summer.
