Codeine Syrup Case: Huge defeat for the accused against Yogi government, trial will be conducted under NDPS Act in 22 cases.
Codeine Syrup Case : Allahabad High Court rejected the writ petition for arrest stay of Shubham Jaiswal and his father Bhola Prasad. The court justified prosecuting the accused under the NDPS Act in the case of codeine syrup.
Shubham Jaiswal and Asif Mohammad were also charged in two of the 22 cases related to codeine syrup. These accused had filed a writ petition for arrest stay, which was rejected by the High Court.
Action based on evidence presented
Additional Advocate General Anoop Trivedi, on behalf of the Yogi government, argued against the writ petition for four days. The Double AG submitted orders to prosecute the coded cases under the NDPS Act by the Supreme Court and the High Courts of various states. Taking into account the evidence presented by FSDA and the police, the High Court dismissed the writ petition.
In this case, the court has named Abhishek Sharma, Vinod Aggarwal, Prateek Mishra, Vishal Kumar Jaiswal, Bhola Prasad, Neeraj Seth, Shubham Jaiswal, Pappan Yadav, Mohd. The writ petitions of Salman Ansari, Anupriya Singh, Ankit Kumar Srivastava, Dilip Kumar Omar, Manju Sharma, Asif Mohammad, Arun Sonkar, Khushboo Goyal, Dharmendra Kumar Jaiswal, Akshat Yadav and Ajit Yadav were also rejected.
