Cold increased in Maharashtra! Mercury at 7 degrees in many districts, IMD issues yellow alert
In the coming few days, the intensity of cold has increased significantly in Maharashtra. Citizens are feeling cold due to increasing cold. In many parts of the state, the minimum temperature has fallen by 7 to 10 degrees. Due to increase in flow of cold winds in the northern states, the cold will increase in Maharashtra in the coming few days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a huge drop in the minimum temperature during December 11. The minimum temperature is likely to drop to 7 degrees Celsius at most places, so the administration has called on citizens to exercise caution.
There will be a drop in temperature in Mumbai and suburbs on December 10. There will be more feeling of cold in the morning and evening. The minimum temperature in Mumbai is likely to drop to around 15 degrees. A similar situation is expected in Konkan also.
The cold wave will intensify in Pune and Western Maharashtra. The minimum temperature in Pune will go up to 8 degrees on December 10 and it can reach 7 degrees in the next two days. IMD has issued ‘Yellow Alert’ for Pune and Solapur districts and advised citizens to keep warm clothes ready.
A sharp drop in temperature is expected in Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik and Ahilyanagar districts. The mercury is expected to go up to 7 degrees in Nashik and 6 degrees in Jalgaon. Jalgaon is likely to become one of the coldest districts in the state.
Marathwada will continue to experience morning cold along with bright afternoon sunshine. ‘Yellow alert’ has been issued for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed and Parbhani districts on December 10.
In Vidarbha, the severity of cold was felt in Yavatmal, Gondia and Nagpur, but no cold wave will be seen on December 10. The minimum temperature is likely to be 9 degrees in Nagpur and 11 degrees in Amravati.
With the cold wave expected to continue till December 11, the administration has especially appealed to elderly citizens, children and sick persons to use warm clothing. It has been advised to avoid going out early in the morning and late at night. Due to continuous drop in temperature across the state, the effect of cold is being felt everywhere.
