Ratlam:- The effect of cold wave is once again being seen in Western Madhya Pradesh. The chill has increased due to cold wind for the second consecutive day. There is a possibility of frost in Ujjain, Ratlam, Mandsaur and Neemuch districts as soon as the temperature reaches below 6 degrees. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, frost may occur with the drop in temperature in the coming days. Due to which Rabi season crops can also be adversely affected.

There will be relief from cold wave after 2 days

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the temperature will remain low for the next 1-2 days. There is a possibility of frost in areas where the night temperature reaches below 6 degrees. There is also a forecast of cloudy sky after 2 days. Due to which one can get immediate relief from cold wave. Nilesh Kharadi of Ratlam-based Weather Information Collection Center said, “The minimum temperature recorded in the district last night was 5.6 degrees. The temperature may continue to fall for the next 2 days.”

Chances of frost falling in these districts

There is a possibility of frost in the western part of Madhya Pradesh after the cold wave. Which includes the surrounding areas including Ratlam, Ujjain, Mandsaur and Neemuch. It was told that in some areas of these districts the night temperature has reached around 5 degrees. At the same time, if there is a rapid drop in temperature, crops can suffer a lot due to frost.

How to protect yourself from frost

Due to falling temperature and cold wind, water droplets start freezing into ice. In such a situation, there may be loss in Rabi crops. The Agriculture Department has issued an advisory to protect against frost. Giving information, Neelam Singh, Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department, said, “If farmers take the measures given as per the advisory to protect their crops from frost, then they can be saved to a great extent.”

Measures to protect crops from frost

Farmers should lightly irrigate their crops.

At this time, use of sulfur containing chemicals in crops proves beneficial. Spray 0.2 percent dimethyl sulfoxide or 0.1 percent thiourea.

To protect the crop from frost, smoke the crop residue by burning it on the ridge of the field.

In case of cold wave, protect crops as well as animals from cold.
