Cold wave alert issued in Bihar, no relief expected till December 31, temperature reaches below 10 degrees
Patna: In Bihar, cold wave conditions are prevailing in most of the districts due to cold westerly wind and fog. The chill has further increased with the minimum temperature in the state falling by one to three degrees on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert (Cold Day Alert in Bihar) for Saturday regarding extremely dense fog in most of the districts of the state and cold day in 30 districts including the capital.
The mercury reached 1.7 degrees Celsius in McCluskieganj, Ranchi, schools up to 12th closed till 31 December.
There is no sign of improvement in the weather till 31st December. During this period, conditions like dense fog and cold day will persist. The state’s minimum temperature was recorded between 7.4 degrees Celsius to 13.0 degrees Celsius. Cold day conditions persisted in Gaya and Sabour of Bhagalpur. The lowest visibility was recorded in Patna, Gaya and Valmiki Nagar with 100 metres. There was dense fog in Patna, Gaya and Valmiki Nagar. Whereas, light to moderate fog was recorded elsewhere. The minimum temperature of seven districts of the state, Aurangabad, Gaya, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Chapra, Bhagalpur Sabour, Valmiki Nagar was recorded below 10 degrees Celsius. Bhagalpur (Sabaur) and Aurangabad had the lowest minimum temperatures in the state with 7.4 degrees Celsius.

Patna’s minimum temperature dropped by 2.6 degrees to 10.0 degrees Celsius. On Friday, the maximum temperature in the capital Patna dropped by four degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours and the highest maximum temperature was recorded in Kishanganj at 14.6 degrees Celsius and 24.1 degrees Celsius. Due to Pachhua, the influence of Kankani remained in the surrounding areas including the capital.

Temperature of seven districts below 10 degrees
With the increase in Kankani due to Pachhua, the minimum temperature in seven districts of the state has fallen below 10 degrees Celsius. On Friday, the minimum temperature of Aurangabad, Gayaji, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Chhapra, Sabour and Valmiki Nagar dropped below 10 degrees Celsius. Sabour in Aurangabad and Bhagalpur was recorded as the coldest place in the state at 7.4 degrees Celsius. Cold is increasing in Bihar. At many places, a drop of 0.2 to 3.3°C has been recorded in the minimum temperature. Gaya and Sabaur have the lowest minimum temperatures.
