Cold Weather Update: Snowfall on the mountains, rain in the plains, third degree torture of cold continues across North India, dense fog slows down the speed of vehicles.

New Delhi. Snowfall also occurred in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand. Light rain also occurred in Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, the chill has increased in North India due to falling temperature. At this time winter is at its peak. The entire North India is in the grip of cold wave. Meanwhile, the rain on Saturday evening completely changed the weather pattern in entire Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas. The morning started with fog and chill but by evening intermittent rain and cold winds increased the cold further. The same conditions are likely to persist on Sunday also. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that due to the impact of western disturbance, the impact of rain and cold will deepen in many parts of the country.

Fog and rain affected life not only in Delhi but also in UP, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. Due to low visibility on the roads, vehicles moved at slow speed and rail traffic was disrupted. In many districts of UP, due to fog and cold, people were seen trying to escape the cold by lighting bonfires. There has been a sudden twist in the weather of entire North India.

Snowfall in Himachal and Uttarakhand
On the other hand, cold wave continues to wreak havoc in the hilly areas. Snowfall occurred at many places in Himachal Pradesh, causing the minimum temperature to drop to -10.2°C. Snowfall also disrupted life in Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir. The icy winds coming from these areas have further increased the cold of the plains.

Impact of western disturbance continues
According to IMD, due to western disturbance, rain and cold will continue in Delhi and the plains of North India for the next 48 hours. After this, the influence of northern winds will start from Monday, due to which the minimum temperature will fall further.

Despite the rain, there has been no major improvement in the air quality of Delhi. The Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the “very poor” category. Although light rains helped settle the dust particles for a while, a permanent solution to pollution is still far away.

Yellow alert issued, cold will increase further
Yellow alert has been issued for the next two days in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Warning of dense fog and cold wave has also been given. In the coming days, melting may increase further in the morning and evening.

When will we get relief?
According to the Meteorological Department, the rain will stop from Monday, but there is no possibility of relief from cold and fog at the moment. Icy winds and cold wave will continue in most parts of North India till next week.
