Colony road on farmers’ route! Administration deployed JCB, but anger remains over the action

Yameen Vikat, Thakurdwara. An illegal colony being developed near Idgah on Tali Road in the city has suddenly come into controversy. The allegation is that the colonizer forcibly occupied the chak road for the farmers as recorded in the records and built a concrete road there. After this occupation, the traditional route of the nearby farmers was completely closed.

The farmers complained to the administration, calling it a blatant violation of their rights. Acting on the complaint, the officers reached the spot and destroyed the road built by the colonizer by running a JCB on it.

Forced occupation of Chak Road, road closed for farmers

According to complainant Shakir, this route has been the main route for farmers for a long time. This was the easiest way to reach the farmers’ lands, but the colony operator built a paved road without any permission and ignoring the rules.

Farmers say that this road is a direct encroachment on their rights. The allegation is also that when a farmer tries to pass through this route, the accused colonizer and his people resort to abusive language and stop him from using the route.

Road broken by JCB, but angry due to lack of action

The administration ended the encroachment by removing the road built on Chak Road, but the anger of the farmers has not stopped. The farmers allege that despite the illegal occupation of the colonizer on the government road recorded in the records, no punitive action was taken against him.

Farmers say that this entire action has become just a formality. If illegal colonies are to be truly stopped, then strict legal action and harsh punishment should be imposed on the colony operators. The farmers have demanded from the administration that a case should be registered against the colonizer concerned, so that in future no one can play with the rights of the farmers like this.

Spreading network of illegal colonies, sale of bus plots without facilities

No electricity, no drainage, people are being cheated – Local people say that the network of illegal colonies is continuously spreading in the area. This is having a direct impact not only on the rights of the farmers but also on the land system decided under the government rules.

People allege that colonies are being cut in all four directions of the city, disregarding all rules and regulations. In these illegal colonies, there is neither a proper system of clean drinking water, nor regular electricity connection, nor are there any drains made for the drainage of dirty water. Despite this, huge amounts of money are being collected from people by selling plots in these colonies.

Colonies not meeting the standards, yet how are they being registered?

Local citizens and farmers are raising questions that when the colonizers are not meeting even the basic standards, then on what basis are they being registered under Section 143. According to the rules, before developing a colony, it is necessary to ensure basic facilities like roads, water, electricity and drains.

People say that if illegal colonies and land mafia are not strictly controlled in time, then in the coming days, the roads of farmers, their lands and basic facilities will be affected. After this entire episode, there is a strong discussion in the area whether mere demolition of the road can be considered sufficient action, or strict legal action should also be taken against the colonizer.
