In the viral clip, it can be seen that Pranit More was interacting with the audience as usual during his show. Meanwhile, while expressing his views, a spectator used very vulgar and derogatory language towards a woman. At that time, it was expected from a responsible artist like Praneet to immediately oppose the audience in such an environment, but instead of taking it seriously, Praneet laughed at it. Not only this, he tried to normalize that comment by calling it ‘Peak Gurgaon Content’. Seeing this attitude of his, internet users got angry.

Why is Pranath getting trolled?

In Pranit More’s show, a man told that he had gone on a date with a girl, where he had fed her biryani worth Rs 370. But when the girl asked the boy to drop her home, the boy said that he wanted to recover his Rs 370 for which he had fed the girl biryani. The boy wanted to take the girl to the hotel, but they were meeting for the first time, so the boy took the girl to the park, where it was dark. He wanted to recover his money by getting physically involved with her. When the boy narrated this incident in Praneet’s show, Praneet also ridiculed the girl a lot.

Seeing this controversy growing, Praneet issued a statement on his Instagram handle. He accepted his mistake without any hesitation. Praneet wrote in his post, that I fully admit that my reaction during that live show was my ‘lapse in judgment’. Instead of laughing at that time, I should have stopped the comment and protested against it. I could have handled it differently and in a better way.

Praneet also clarified that in live crowdwork shows, artists often react in real-time, but this is in no way an excuse to justify derogatory language towards women. He said, I am taking this feedback seriously. I am a human being and am constantly learning. When people call me out on my mistakes, it doesn’t make me smaller, but helps me become a better comedian and person. He also informed that he has removed that video from all his digital platforms, so that such wrong ideas are not further promoted.

What do social media users say?

After Praneeth’s apology, two different sides of the fans are being seen. While Praneeth’s fans are praising him for accepting his mistake and apologizing, the other section is still angry with him. Some people believe that the comedian’s silence or laughter on the issue of ‘women’s safety’ and ‘respect’ is not right in any way. Some users say that if he had slapped that audience on the stage at that very moment, perhaps he would have become an example.
