Supply of commercial cylinder stopped in Mumbai, new refill will be booked only after 25 days, black marketing may increase

Mumbai: Due to US-Israeli attacks on Iran, there is a crisis on LPG cooking gas in Mumbai. Due to interruption in LPG supply in Mumbai due to war, people are facing shortage of cooking gas. The waiting time after refill bookings in the city has now increased from two to eight days.

‘Commercial cylinder supply stopped in Mumbai’

According to Times of India, dealers say that the supply of commercial cylinders used in hotels and restaurants has completely stopped. Because of this, there may now be difficulties at eating places. Panic buying was already visible in Mumbai due to manifold increase in bookings since Monday morning. Along with this, families who had two cylinders immediately rushed to get refill booking done at the dealer outlet.

A dealer said that a new notification from the Union Petroleum Ministry states that domestic customers can book a new refill only 25 days after receiving a cylinder. The dealer said this is not like last week, when you could book the next cylinder in a day or two. He said that at least domestic 14.2 kg cylinder is still available. He further said that the supply of commercial LPG cylinders has been completely stopped from Sunday. This will create a crisis for hotels and restaurants that buy these big cylinders.

LPG dealers say that hotels and other commercial places may be forced to buy domestic cylinders from the black market. He said that this is not only illegal but also dangerous. A dealer said that my suggestion is that if necessary, the government should charge higher prices from hotel owners, but continue to provide commercial cylinders. He further said that anyway on Sunday, the prices of both commercial and domestic cylinders were increased by Rs 115 and Rs 60 one after the other.
