Commercial LPG cylinder becomes expensive from today, will the prices of domestic gas also increase?

Tezzbuzz Desk- A major increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders has been implemented across the country from May 1, 2026. Amidst the increasing tension in the Middle East, government oil companies have increased the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder by about ₹ 993 outright. After this increase, the price of commercial gas cylinder has crossed ₹ 3000 in many major cities of the country.

In the capital Delhi, now a 19 kg commercial cylinder is available for ₹ 3071.50, which was earlier ₹ 2078.50. That means the price has directly increased by ₹ 993. Whereas in the financial capital Mumbai, its price has increased to ₹ 3024, which was earlier around ₹ 2031.

Talking about other metros, this cylinder is now available in Kolkata for ₹ 3202, while in Chennai its price has reached ₹ 3237. Its impact is clearly visible in the cities of Uttar Pradesh too – the cylinder has reached ₹ 3125.50 in Agra, ₹ 3194 in Lucknow and ₹ 3255.50 in Gorakhpur.

However, it is a matter of relief that there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders at present. Domestic gas cylinder is still available in Delhi for around ₹ 913, which has brought immediate relief to common households, but the rising prices of commercial cylinders may impact the pockets of common people in the future. Due to increase in the cost of these cylinders used in hotels, restaurants and dhabas, there is a possibility of increase in the prices of food items. Experts believe that if this trend continues, it may have a widespread impact on inflation.

Overall, domestic consumers are definitely relieved at the moment, but it is certain that the rising costs in the market will gradually impact normal life.
