Commodity Watch: Strong spot demand pushes copper futures higher
New Delhi New Delhi: Due to increase in spot demand, copper futures prices rose marginally by 0.32 percent to Rs 802.75 per kg on Friday. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), copper contracts for January delivery rose by Rs 2.60, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 802.75 per kg with a turnover of 5,999 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to increased bets by participants. Aluminum prices rose by 60 paise to Rs 238.35 per kg in the futures market as speculators made fresh deals amid a positive trend in the spot market. On MCX, aluminum contracts for January delivery rose 60 paise, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 238.35 per kg with a turnover of 2,770 lots. Analysts said fresh deals by traders amid demand from consumer industries supported aluminum prices in futures market.
