With the help of 'Modi magic'… preparations for Delhi victory, Virendra Sachdeva said – This time BJP government
New Delhi: With the victory in Maharashtra, the enthusiasm of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has increased before the Delhi Assembly elections to be held next year. Local BJP leaders said the party will now put all its efforts to oust the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government from power in Delhi. BJP alliance has got a big victory in Maharashtra. BJP has announced “Parivartan Yatra” to end AAP's 10-year rule in Delhi.
BJP's Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva said that the Maharashtra election results are the public's seal of approval on 'Modi magic'. He said, “The recent victory in Haryana elections and now the party's massive victory in the by-elections in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh is a morale booster for us. Sachdeva told the news agency that party workers, encouraged by these results, will work with double energy to end the era of AAP-led corruption in Delhi. He said that the party will soon launch 'Parivartan Yatra' in Delhi and has formed a nine-member committee under the chairmanship of Satish Upadhyay to give shape to this plan.
BJP's Delhi unit has posted an animation video on its 'X' account, titled “Dilli mein bhi kamal khilega.” In the background is the voice of Atal Bihari Vajpayee saying “The darkness will disperse, the sun will rise and the lotus will bloom…” The BJP last came to power in Delhi in 1993 with a victory in the assembly elections. Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has maintained its dominance in Delhi for the past decade and registered consecutive landslide victories in the 2015 and 2020 elections.
BJP had to face crushing defeat both times. In 2015 it could win only three seats and in 2020 it could win only eight seats. However, this time the BJP is confident that it will make a comeback and end the long wait to return to power in Delhi. A party official said there are clear indications of BJP's “better” performance in the upcoming assembly elections.
“We won all seven Lok Sabha seats this year and got more votes than AAP in 52 out of 70 assembly constituencies,” the BJP leader said. He claimed that Kejriwal's image as an honest, capable leader has been “bigly damaged” by corruption allegations like liquor scam, “Sheeshmahal” scam. He said that people are facing problems due to bad roads, lack of water, pollution, poor public transport etc.
