Assan Ouédraogo will officially replace the injury-stricken Lennart Karl in Germany’s squad for the fast approaching 2026 World Cup.

According to Sky Germany, Julian Nagelsmann has already contacted Assan Ouédraogo and informed him of the nomination.

The head coach of the four-time World Cup winners was forced to act quickly after 18-year-old Karl suffered a torn muscle bundle injury.

Ouédraogo, currently plying his trade with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, is no stranger to the sidelines either as of late.

The 20-year-old talent was hampered by knee problems which limited him to 19 league appearances for the Saxony-based club.

Regardless, the former FC Schalke 04 academy talent still gave impressive displays and chipped in with 4 goals and 3 assists.

With only one senior international cap for Die Mannschaft to date, the Mülheim native will now likely feature in the USA, Canada & Mexico.
