Latest News :- By-election has been announced for Wayanad seat in Kerala as former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has resigned from his Lok Sabha seat. The Congress leadership has officially announced that Priyanka Gandhi will contest elections here. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi contested the 2024 parliamentary elections from Wayanad and Rae Bareli constituencies and won both the constituencies. He resigned from the post of Wayanad MP as no person can hold the post of MP in two constituencies. Rahul Gandhi remains MP from Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency.

Today the Election Commission of India has announced the date of assembly elections for Maharashtra and Jharkhand as well as the date of by-elections for other vacant constituencies in the country. Accordingly, “Elections for Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency will be held on 13th November and filing of nominations for this constituency will begin from 18th. 25th is the last day for filing nominations. The nominations submitted will be considered on 28th. “The votes cast in the November 13 elections will be counted on November 23 and the results will be declared on the same day.

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has announced that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. With this, Priyanka Gandhi is entering vote politics for the first time. Also, Congress has announced that Rahul will contest from the vacant Palakkad assembly constituency Mamkud and Ramya Haridas will contest from the separate Selakara constituency. Priyanka Gandhi entered the political arena in 1999, campaigning for her mother Sonia Gandhi against BJP candidate Arun Nehru in Amethi. It is noteworthy that he is currently contesting from Wayanad constituency while it is expected that he will enter electoral politics.
