Congress clearly denies alliance with Ajit-Sharad Pawar

Political activities have intensified in Maharashtra before the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation elections. After recent reports of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar proposing an alliance to a Congress leader over phone, now Congress The official response has come out.

Congress has said in clear words that it will not form any kind of alliance with Ajit Pawar or Sharad Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party. This statement further clarifies the political equations regarding Pune Municipal Election.

Congress’s blunt answer

Maharashtra Congress Vice President Mohan Joshi said that NCP and Ajit Pawar faction have already decided to contest the elections together, so there is no question of any kind of alliance with them for the Congress.

He said that Congress will take decisions in the Pune Municipal Elections on the basis of its independent political identity and ideology.

Focus will be on MVA associates

Mohan Joshi further said that Congress is considering the possibilities of alliance with the allies of Maha Vikas Aghadi. These include Shiv Sena (UBT) and other like-minded organisations.

He said that the meeting of the Congress state unit was held in Mumbai under the chairmanship of state president Harshvardhan Sapkal, in which guidelines regarding the election strategy were decided. In this meeting, it was made clear that Congress will move forward with like-minded parties in the Pune Municipal Elections.

Elections with secular parties

The Congress vice president said the party will fight the elections with political forces that believe in secularism and democratic values. He also talked about possible coordination with parties like Aam Aadmi Party and Rashtriya Samaj Paksha. Congress believes that a durable alliance is possible only on the basis of ideological similarity and not on the basis of opportunistic politics.

Situation clear on Ajit Pawar’s proposal

It is noteworthy that two days ago, Congress leader Satej Patil had also admitted that he had received an alliance proposal from Ajit Pawar for the Pune civic elections.

Responding to this, Mohan Joshi reiterated that since the Nationalist Congress Party and Ajit Pawar faction are contesting the elections together, the Congress will not forge an alliance with either of them. After this statement, the political picture before the Pune Municipal Elections has become clear to a great extent.
