Congress ignored Assam and gave it step-motherly treatment: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

New Delhi. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday attacked the Congress, accusing the party of neglecting Assam and treating the state like a stepchild. Addressing an election rally in Tezpur, where NDA candidate and Assam Gana Parishad leader Prithviraj Rabha was also present. Rajnath Singh expressed confidence over the victory of the BJP-led alliance in the state assembly elections. The Union Minister said that the land of Assam is rich in both culture and nature. The aroma of Assam tea can be felt not only in India but all over the world. This is the land of courage and great hero Lachit Borphukan. The heroes of Assam have sacrificed everything for the nation. Seeing your passion, I am confident that no power can stop the formation of BJP government here.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that BJP has resolved to protect the culture and identity of Assam. Singh said that BJP has resolved that the culture and identity of Assam should be protected. For this, a double-engine government is working here under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa. Assam has now got a separate identity within India. Congress has always neglected Assam. Assam was always treated like a step-mother. Due to the misgovernance of Congress, the discussions here always revolved around extremism, poverty and unrest. He said that the topic of discussions regarding Assam has now shifted from starvation and extremism to development. Today no one in the entire world talks about starvation or extremism. Now the discussions here revolve around development and all this has become possible only because of BJP. Many villages in the border areas were once called the last villages during the Congress rule, but we have given them the status of the first villages of the nation. In the last 12 years, PM Modi has visited the Northeast 30 times. Whereas during the Congress rule the PM rarely visited the region.
