Congress is a sinking ship, if NCP-TMC merge, only BJP will benefit: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ big statement
Amidst speculations about merger of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Trinamool Congress (TMC) and other regional parties with Congress, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Has given a big political statement. Describing Congress as a “sinking ship”, he said that if such a merger comes to the fore, the biggest beneficiary will be the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
At a press conference organized on the occasion of completion of 12 years of Modi government, Fadnavis, while reacting to the talks of unity and merger of opposition parties, criticized Congress and Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) MPs. Sanjay Raut Also aimed at.
Targeted at Sanjay Raut
On the question regarding possible merger of opposition parties, Fadnavis said,
“The situation has become like Abdullah’s crazy in foreign marriage. The person who is neither from Congress nor from Nationalist Congress, is the person who is speaking the most on this subject.”
Without taking his name, he took a dig at Sanjay Raut and said that some people are only trying to fuel political discussion.
“Congress is a sinking ship”
Commenting on the position of Congress, the Chief Minister said,
“I don’t think such experienced leaders would want to board a sinking ship. Congress has become a sinking ship today. In such a situation, other parties will not take the risk of going with it.”
However, he also said that no possibility in politics can be completely ruled out.
“The more the opposition shrinks, the stronger the BJP will become.”
Fadnavis said that if the opposition parties merge with the Congress, the BJP will benefit and not suffer.
He said,
“If the opposition parties come together on one platform or merge with the Congress, more political opportunities will be created for the BJP. The more the opposition shrinks, the more political space will be available for the BJP.”
He clarified that the BJP is currently watching these developments under a “wait and watch” policy.
Achievements of 12 years of Modi government counted
During the press conference, the Chief Minister also mentioned the achievements of the 12 years of the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that in the last decade the country has witnessed historic changes in the fields of development, infrastructure, social welfare and economic reforms.
“6 crore women will become Lakhpati Didi”
Referring to women empowerment schemes, Fadnavis said,
“So far 3 crore women in the country have become ‘Lakhpati Didi’ and the target is to increase this number to 6 crore in the coming time.”
He said that the schemes of the Central Government have played an important role in making women financially self-reliant.
“There is not a single stain of corruption on Modi government”
Praising the transparency of the Central Government, the Chief Minister said,
“In the last 12 years, not a single allegation of corruption has been proven against the Modi government. This government has been completely spotless.”
He also said that due to the schemes of the Central Government, about 25 crore people have come above the poverty line and their standard of living has improved.
Fadnavis also spoke on farmers’ issues
The Chief Minister appealed to the farmers to do farming and sowing as per the advice of the government. He said that the government will arrange fodder for the animals and provide all possible assistance to the farmers.
On the issue of loan waiver, he said that the government is continuously working keeping in mind the interests of the farmers and relief has been given to lakhs of farmers in the past also.
Amid discussions in political circles about possible reorganization and merger of opposition parties, this statement of Devendra Fadnavis may further intensify the political debate in the coming days.
