Gave clean chit to itself, would have left it here but…, Congress cornered Election Commission on Haryana elections.
The party said, “It is no surprise that the Election Commission has given you a clean chit.
Congress to Election Commission on Haryana elections news In Hindi: The ongoing war of words between the Election Commission of India and the Congress took a major turn on Friday (November 1), when the Congress responded to the Election Commission over its allegations of irregularities in the Haryana Assembly elections. Called the response as 'baseless'.
The Congress party said that the Election Commission has given itself a clean chit in its reply, but normally they would have left it at that; But the language used by the Election Commission against the party is forcing them to give a counter reply.
The party said, “It is not surprising that the Election Commission has given you a clean chit. Ordinarily we would have left it at that. However, the tone and tenor of the Election Commission's reply, the language used and the anti-Congress The allegations made force us to retaliate.”
It is noteworthy that earlier the Congress Party had made allegations of irregularities in the recently held Haryana elections. He also expressed concern over the display of 99 percent battery status on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) during counting of votes. However, the Election Commission refuted all the party's allegations, calling them 'baseless, false and devoid of facts'.
'If the ECI's aim is to end its own neutrality, it is doing a remarkable job'
The BJP has appreciated the Election Commission's response, but the Congress party intensified its attack on Friday. The Kharge-led party said the Election Commission's replies were “full of personal attacks on individual leaders or the party itself.”
The party said, “The correspondence of the Congress is limited to issues only and is written out of respect for the high position of the Chief Election Commissioner and his brother commissioners. This can be confirmed from the representations of the Congress which are in the public domain. However, the Election Commission's reply is written in an insulting tone. If the current Election Commission aims to eliminate even its last vestiges of neutrality, it is doing a remarkable job in creating this impression.”
It said, “The judge writing the judgment does not attack or malign the party raising the issue. However, if the Election Commission remains adamant on its stand, we have no option but to seek legal recourse to get such comments removed.” There will be no alternative.”
Importantly, the Congress party also mentioned in its statement that it was not surprised at how the Election Commission investigated its complaints and gave itself a clean chit. He said that the Election Commission's answer to the question of fluctuations in the batteries of the machines is confusing rather than clarifying. The party said, “At any rate, the Election Commission's response is nothing more than standard and general information about the way the machines work, and not specific clarifications on specific complaints. In short, while our complaints were specific, The Election Commission's response is general and focused on mitigating complaints and petitioners.”
