Counter attack: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hit back at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's recent statement, in which Kharge had said that political parties should make promises that can be fulfilled. Modi wrote on social media that Congress is now understanding that it is easy to make false promises, but it is difficult to implement them properly.
Prime Minister's key points:
Status of Congress ruled states: Modi said that Congress is continuously making such promises to the people which they are not able to fulfill. Giving examples of Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, he said that the pace of development and financial condition of these states is worsening.
unfulfilled promises and deception: He alleged that the so-called guarantees of Congress are incomplete, which is a big betrayal of the people. The poor, youth, farmers and women are not able to take advantage of these promises and the existing schemes are also becoming weak.
Internal politics in Karnataka: Modi also said that the Congress party in Karnataka, instead of focusing on development, is entangled in internal party politics and is preparing to withdraw the existing schemes.
Kharge's reply:
Responding to Modi's allegations, Kharge said that his words included elements like lies, deceit, fraud and loot. He gave a funny meaning of BJP's names, in which 'B' means betrayal and 'J' means catchphrase.

Kharge asked six questions to the Prime Minister: What happened to the promise of 2 crore jobs in a year? Why is inflation continuously increasing? What happened to the good days? What happened to the development of India? What happened to 'Na Khaunga, Na Khane Dunga'? What happened to 'I will not let the country bow down'?

The Supreme Court has heard the promises of free schemes by political parties. The petition demands that these promises be declared bribes and the Election Commission be directed to stop such schemes. The petitioner says that the political parties do not explain how they will implement these schemes, which puts a burden on the government exchequer and is a fraud on the voters and the Constitution. This political debate can become an important issue in the upcoming elections, especially When both Congress and BJP are focusing on their respective strategies.
