Congress Working Committee meeting today, party will decide strategy on MNREGA and national issues

digital desk- An important meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) is going to be held in New Delhi on Saturday. Before this meeting, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has clarified that many important issues related to the national interest will be discussed in depth. He said that the current political situation, policies of the Central Government and questions related to the general public will be included in the main agenda of the meeting. The top leadership of Congress will be present in the meeting, which is expected to decide the political direction of the future. Gaurav Gogoi made serious allegations against the BJP government at the Center regarding MNREGA. He said that the government is planning to weaken MNREGA, which will have a direct impact on lakhs of laborers in the country. Gogoi said, “MNREGA is not just a scheme, but it is a lifeline for the poor and working class of rural India. The kind of changes the government is thinking of making will put the livelihood of millions of people in danger. The BJP government has set a very dangerous target for itself and the Congress will not let it succeed under any circumstances.

Many big leaders including Rahul, Sonia reached Delhi

He also said that Congress will fight from the streets to Parliament against any attempt to abolish or weaken MNREGA. A concrete strategy will be made on this issue in the Congress Working Committee meeting and the movement regarding this will be intensified across the country. Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge have reached the Congress headquarters for this important meeting. Apart from this, senior MP and leader Shashi Tharoor has also arrived to attend the meeting. It is believed that issues like strategy for the upcoming elections, organizational strength and opposition unity will also be discussed in this meeting.

Sharp attack on Assam government

Before the meeting, Gaurav Gogoi also launched a scathing attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said that during the present government in Assam, new cases of corruption and misgovernance are coming to light every day. Gogoi alleged that the MLAs associated with Himanta Biswa Sarma’s cabinet are constantly embroiled in controversies. He said, “Every day you see in the news that an MLA’s name is coming up in cases like cow smuggling, threats in illegal land deals, being linked to the sand and coal mafia. Not only this, questions have also been raised about the citizenship of an MLA and his identity as a Bangladeshi is being discussed.” Gaurav Gogoi alleged that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has completely failed to answer these serious questions. He said that the people of Assam are now fed up with this misgovernance and will respond to it democratically in the times to come.
