The Indian youth named Nikhil Gupta was found guilty in the US court of conspiracy to kill Khalistani militant leader Gurupatwant Singh Pannun. It is known that he has confessed his crime in the court.
According to the US Department of Justice, 54-year-old Nikhil has confessed to the conspiracy to murder Pannun. Not only that, he hired a hitman to kill Pannu. He handed over a lot of money. Nikhil also admitted that in the court. Indian youth will be sentenced on May 29. It is known that Nikhil can be sentenced to a maximum of 40 years in prison. However, the final decision will be decided by the court. A Manhattan federal court in New York found Nikhil guilty on Thursday.
On June 30, 2023, Nikhil was arrested by the Czech Republic police. Nikhil alleged that he was arrested only on the orders of US agents without showing an arrest warrant. Nikhil also accused of human rights violations. Then Nikhil was extradited to America in 2024. Since then he was imprisoned in the US jail. According to the US, Nikhil hired a hitman to kill Pannun. He also gave the killer 15 thousand dollars in advance for this. After this demand of America, noise started naturally in India. Indian government announced to provide all legal assistance to Nikhil. But still there was no specific solution. However, there is no reaction from New Delhi till now after Nikhil’s conviction.
Incidentally, the Indian government has already identified Pannun as a ‘terrorist’. His organization ‘Sikhs for Justice’ has been banned in India. Alleged by New Delhi, Pannun is spreading violence along with supporting separatism in the name of creating a separate Sikh state or Khalistan. The Khalistani leader has also been seen continuously plotting against India while sitting on American soil. He was also seen threatening Hindus in several video messages. Even lead Khalistani marches on American soil.
