Desk: President Draupardi Murmu released the Constitution of India in Santali language at a ceremony on Thursday. The ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. In his address, the President said that it is a matter of pride and joy for all Santali people that the Constitution of India is now available in Santali language and in Ol Chiki script.

President Murmu said that with this we will be able to read and understand Santali language. The President praised Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and his team for making it available in Ol Chiki script in the centenary of the Constitution. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Meghwal and others were present on this occasion. On this occasion, the Vice President thanked President Draupadi Murmu for this initiative, under whose guidance this work was done. He said that with this great initiative Santhali speaking people will be able to read and understand the Constitution in their own language.”

Santali was included in the Eighth Schedule in the year 2003: Santali language was included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution through the 92nd Amendment Act of 2003. It is one of the ancient languages of India, which is spoken by the Santal tribal people living in Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar and other states.
