Controversy erupts again regarding the film Raazi, writer Harinder Sikka makes serious allegations against Meghna Gulzar
News India Live, Digital Desk: Alia Bhatt starrer superhit film ‘Raazi’ is once again in the midst of controversies. The author of the book ‘Calling Sehmat’ on which the film is based, former naval officer Harinder Sikka has made very serious and shocking allegations against the film’s director Meghna Gulzar. Sikka claims that Meghna deliberately removed the Indian national flag (tricolor) at the end of the film and showed the Pakistani flag and also sent him derogatory messages. What is the whole controversy about the tricolor? During a recent interview, Harinder Sikka expressed his displeasure and said that in the last scene of the film, where the main character ‘Sehmat’ (Alia Bhatt) returns back to India, originally the tricolor should have been hoisted there. According to Sikka, Meghna Gulzar removed the Indian flag from that scene and showed the Pakistani flag instead. He alleged that by doing so an attempt was made to set a different narrative through the film, which was against the spirit of the original story. “Meghna sent me lewd messages” Writer Sikka did not stop here; He also revealed that relations between him and Meghna turned sour during and after the production of the film. He said, “Meghna Gulzar had sent me very rude and derogatory messages.” Sikka believes that the director tampered with the story and also tried to reduce his credits. He also alleged that the film has shown Sehmat going into ‘depression’, whereas in reality she was a very brave and mentally strong spy. The journey of the films ‘Raazi’ and ‘Calling Sehmat’ Basis: The film is based on Harinder Sikka’s book ‘Calling Sehmat’ released in 2008. Story: This is the true story of a Kashmiri spy, who went to Pakistan and worked for the Indian intelligence agency during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Root of controversy: Sikka says that in the film, Sehmat has been shown regretting his duty, which is completely wrong. Accusations have been made against Meghna before also. This is not the first time that Harinder Sikka has targeted Meghna Gulzar. Even before this, he had said on many forums that Meghna had conspired to keep him away from the film’s promotions and award functions. Sikka had even said that the director of ‘Chhapaak’ tried to make ‘Raazi’ an ‘anti-war’ film, due to which the real patriotic spirit of the story got diluted.
