Jyotimani wrote, “Trying to suppress it in this way is completely against creative freedom. And suppressing it for political reasons is even more dangerous. After the Enforcement Directorate, CBI and the Income Tax Department, the Censorship Board has now become the political weapon of the Modi government. We cannot remain silent spectators to this. I have been a member of the Censorship Committee for a few years. I am well aware of its functioning. In my view, in this technological age, the Censorship Board is an old institution. Any film It is in the hands of the people whether to accept or reject.”

He wrote, “Even if we continue to censor films, thousands of uncensored videos and scenes are circulating on television, YouTube and social media platforms. Billions of people watch them. In this context, merely censoring films will not bring about any real change – this is the harsh reality. Showing women or talking about them in an obscene manner, or having double meanings, is wrong as per censorship guidelines. However, films made without such things are very few. The Censorship Board rarely pays attention to such matters – it should also be noted that till then, we should strongly oppose using it as a political weapon.”

Girish Chodankar, Congress in-charge of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, wrote in an ex-post, “Dear PMO (@PMOIndia) Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) Yes, the ongoing controversy over actor Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayakan’ has raised concerns about misuse of political power. Although political disagreement is understandable, it is wrong to target the work of an artist.”

He further wrote, “The people of Tamil Nadu will not tolerate censorship of cinema for political gains. We urge you to ensure that art and entertainment are not used as pawns in political battles. Vijay’s film is being delayed because of your pressure on the authorities, which is unfair to the producers and fans. Let’s keep politics away from art and respect creative freedom. Modi ji, do your duty by taking action not on actor Vijay, but on politician Vijay.” Prove the 56 inch chest claim. Remember, your intimidation politics will not work in Tamil Nadu.”
