Controversy in Indian dressing room? Coach’s reaction on the news, said- Rohit-Kohli and Gambhir…

Mumbai India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak on Tuesday rejected media reports and said that there is no rift or lack of communication between head coach Gautam Gambhir and senior batsmen Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and coach Gambhir. Kotak said that both the senior players regularly discuss cricket and World Cup plans with Gambhir. This statement came a day before the second ODI between India and New Zealand to be held in Rajkot on Wednesday.

Kotak also informed that Rohit and Kohli have talked about the 2027 ODI World Cup (to be held in South Africa). He said, ‘Rohit and Kohli regularly discuss with Gautam about the ODI format, upcoming matches and our plans to go to South Africa. Most of the time I am there and whenever I listen, they share their experiences. I always see them talking.

  • In the last few months, it was being claimed in the media that the communication between Gambhir and former captains Rohit-Kohli has reduced and this is causing tension in the dressing room. Some videos also circulated on social media in which Kohli was shown distancing himself from Gambhir, but Kotak denied such reports and said, ‘A lot of things are seen on social media, which I try to avoid seeing.’

Kotak further clarified that both the players are very experienced and decide their own preparation. He said, ‘Look, both are very senior and experienced. They definitely make plans. If they feel there is a need, they reach a place in advance and practice. They know they are playing a format and want India to win everywhere when they are in the team.

He further said, ‘He knows what his body needs, what his fitness needs, and what he needs in batting. They are complete professionals, they don’t need to be told what to do. In fact, he has so much experience that he can give many ideas to other players and they also discuss.
