Controversy in JPC meeting on Waqf bill; TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee injured, got stitches

New Delhi. JPC meeting on Waqf Bill: There was a big uproar again on Tuesday (22 October) in the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed on the Waqf Board. There was a heated argument between BJP and TMC MPs. Meanwhile, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee was so angry that he tried to throw the glass bottle kept on the table towards committee chairperson Jagdambika Pal, but the bottle broke and hit Kalyan Banerjee.

According to reports, as soon as the JPC meeting on Waqf Bill started, Kalyan Banerjee (JPC meeting on Waqf Bill) stood up without permission and started speaking, on which BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay tried to stop him. So there was a heated argument between the two. The argument escalated so much that Kalyan Banerjee tried to throw the glass water bottle kept on the table, but it broke on the table and injured his hand. Due to the injury, he had to get stitches on his hand. After this incident, JPC President Jagdambika Pal somehow handled the matter.

Injured Kalyan Banerjee was immediately taken to the first aid centre. He also had four stitches on his hand. Meanwhile, a video surfaced after the incident, in which Kalyan Banerjee is seen being taken to a meeting room by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh. Now after this incident, Kalyan Banerjee can be suspended from JPC.

There have been riots before

This is not the first incident of uproar in the JPC meeting on Waqf Bill. There was a huge uproar last week too, after which the opposition MPs staged a walkout (JPC meeting on Waqf Bill). According to reports, opposition MPs accused BJP MPs of using objectionable language. Apart from this, the opposition alleges that committee chairperson Jagdambika Pal did not take any action against the BJP MPs. Whereas BJP MPs accused the opposition party MPs of using abusive language.
