Controversy increases over ‘The Kerala Story 2’, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan calls it false propaganda… appeals to the public to reject it
The Kerala Story 2:As soon as the trailer of ‘The Kerala Story 2’ was released, the debate in social and political circles has intensified. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan called the film against the integrity and unity of India. Vijayan expressed strong objection to the film, calling it a threat to the secular identity of the state. He has alleged that the film can harm the image of the state and has appealed to the people to reject it.
The Chief Minister said in clear words that Kerala’s tradition of social harmony and mutual respect is its biggest strength. In such a situation, attempts to spread division through any creation cannot be accepted. He alleged that the aim of the film was to create a negative atmosphere against the state.
Targeted on the first part also
Referring to the first part of the film, Chief Minister Vijayan said that its objective "Spreading hatred against the state and undermining its secular tradition" Was. He said, "The country realized that the first part, which was full of lies, hatred and anti-Kerala propaganda, was made with communal motives."
He also expressed concern about the second part and said that it claimed to show incidents of forced religious conversion, which many parties are considering as propaganda.
Objection expressed on social media
In his statement shared on Facebook, the Chief Minister raised the question that "Poisonous creations created to spread division and hatred in society" Why is public display allowed? He made the comparison saying that films like Beef (a Spanish film) were banned from film festivals only on the basis of title, whereas here controversial subjects are getting a platform.
Objection to depiction of inter-religious relations
The Chief Minister wrote, "They are spreading false propaganda by portraying even consensual marriages as examples of communalism and forced conversions." He raised serious questions on the way inter-religious relationships were depicted in the film.
Warned by calling him ‘enemy of the state’
Chief Minister Vijayan said, "Such forces are hostile to Kerala, a state free from communal riots and where there is a tradition of mutual respect between communities." He alleged that the intention behind these efforts was to harm the peace and stability of the state.
He appealed to the citizens, "We must collectively reject attempts to portray Kerala, a land of religious harmony, a leader in sustainable development and a role model in maintaining law and order, as a hub of terrorism. It is the responsibility of each of us to ensure that the secular foundation of Kerala is not weakened by false propaganda and reject it while upholding the values of secularism and brotherhood."
Debut film and upcoming releases
The first film of the series, ‘The Kerala Story’ starred Adah Sharma, Sonia Balani, Yogita Bihani and Siddhi Idnani. Despite controversies and restrictions, the film achieved notable success at the box office. The film’s director Sudipto Sen received the National Film Award for Best Director, while Prashantnu Mohapatra received the award for Best Cinematography.
Now ‘The Kerala Story 2’ is going to be released on 27th February. Ulka Gupta, Aishwarya Ojha and Aditi Bhatia will be seen in lead roles in this film.
