Controversy over ‘Pandit’ question, CM Yogi strict, said – action will be taken against those who do this

After the controversy over a question asked in the question paper of the Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector (Inspector) recruitment examination, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday instructed the chairpersons of all the recruitment councils that indecent comments should not be made regarding the dignity and faith of any person, caste, creed or sect. According to the statement, the Chief Minister has said that taking cognizance of this instruction, those who set question papers in all recruitment examinations should be directed and those who make repeated mistakes should be banned immediately. According to the statement, Adityanath has also directed that this instruction should also be made a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the question paper makers. A lot of controversy has arisen regarding a question asked in the question paper of Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector (Inspector) recruitment examination.

In the examination held on Saturday, a question was asked – “Answer in one word for those who change according to the occasion.” For this, four options were given – Pandit, Opportunist, Sincere and Virtuous. Objection has been raised on the inclusion of the word ‘Pandit’ in the question options, after which the state government has taken cognizance of the matter and directed for investigation in this regard.

State Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak gave a strong reaction on this matter and said that the government has serious objection to the options given in the question and it has been taken into cognizance. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board said late on Saturday evening that an inquiry has been ordered in connection with the referred question and after the investigation, action will be ensured against the culprits. BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit secretary Abhijat Mishra, who belongs to the Brahmin community, has also written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, objecting to the question and demanding action against those responsible for preparing the question paper.

The board said in the same post, “This work is done by highly confidential institutions in such a way that the confidentiality of the question papers remains intact before the examination. To maintain this confidentiality, even at the board level, confidential material i.e. question papers are not inspected by any officer or employee.”
