Corrupt officials are not well in Bihar, speedy trial cell formed in vigilance

Sanjay Singh, Patna. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been promising the public zero tolerance on corruption and crime, but due to the complex legal process, corrupt officials are not punished. Many times it has been seen that officers caught in corruption retire or pass away and legal action continues against them. The Surveillance Investigation Bureau took action against 122 corrupt officials last year. Now, to ensure that the matter does not get stuck in legal complications, two cells have been formed so that corrupt officials can be punished as soon as possible.

How will the punishment be expedited?

DG Jitendra Singh Gangwar of Surveillance Investigation Bureau says that the accused are caught red-handed, but there is a lot of delay in getting them punished. Now Speedy Trial Cell has been formed within the department. The job of this cell is to complete the paper process and present the witnesses and evidence in the court on time.

The second biggest problem is that the personnel who are caught in corruption cases have to take permission from the concerned department to prosecute them. It takes years to get permission. Even departmental action against corrupt officials is not initiated on time. Because of this, fear of law is not able to arise in the minds of the corrupt.
