Saharsa The Urban Development and Housing Department has ordered to register an FIR against Saharsa Mayor Bain Priya, her personal secretary Rajeev Kumar and his wife on charges of misuse of government funds. On the complaint of Rahul Kumar Paswan, resident of Kosi Colony, Saharsa, the three-tier investigation committee constituted by the District Magistrate had found the role of all of them suspicious. The investigation revealed that the mayor carried out illegal transactions worth crores of rupees by allotting work to two companies of his personal secretary’s wife, ‘Aim of People’ and ‘Narishakti Infratech’. The department has directed the Municipal Commissioner to register an FIR and submit the report within three days and take action against the involved government employees within a week.

According to the report of the investigation committee, money was misappropriated in the name of street lights and maintenance in Saharsa Municipal Corporation. The mayor is accused of giving contracts to the companies of his personal secretary Rajeev Jha’s wife without any proper evaluation or investigation of their merits. Suspicious transactions worth crores of rupees have been found between the bank accounts of these two companies, which directly points towards corruption.
