CPDL Signs MoU with CCA Punjab to Enable Renewable Energy Procurement and Energy Cost SavingsChandigarh, Dec 26: Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) today signed a MoU with the Office of the Controller of Communication Accounts, Punjab Telecom Circle, Chandigarh, to facilitate renewable energy procurement and implement structured energy management initiatives. The partnership is aimed at delivering long-term cost efficiencies, strengthening energy security and supporting the Government of India’s renewable energy and sustainability objectives.

Under the MoU, CPDL will enable the supply of renewable energy along with the requisite infrastructure support for the CCA Punjab office, supporting a transition towards cost-effective and sustainable power consumption across its facilities in Chandigarh.

The collaboration is expected to result in direct financial savings through optimised power costs, opportunities for additional value creation through surplus power utilisation and improved long-term energy reliability. At the same time, the initiative will promote responsible energy management by reducing dependence on conventional power sources, enhancing operational efficiency and contributing meaningfully to India’s broader clean energy transition and national sustainability agenda.

Speaking on the occasion, Arun Kumar Verma, Director, Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited said, “This partnership represents a decisive step towards reimagining how public institutions engage with energy. CPDL is also aligned with the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, reinforcing its commitment to expanding rooftop solar adoption under India’s national clean energy mission. While the programme targets 1 crore rooftop installations by 2027, CPDL has set a city-level goal of achieving 100 percent rooftop solar coverage across approximately 43,000 private houses in Chandigarh.
