The CPI(M) Central Committee has completed the preliminary review of the recent assembly election results. The party has expressed deep concern over the victory of BJP in West Bengal and the strengthening of Hindutva forces in the society. This meeting was held in New Delhi between 22 and 24 May 2026.
According to the release, the Kerala State Committee is analyzing the reasons for the election performance by taking opinions from various levels. On these suggestions, State Secretariat and State Committee meetings will be held in Thiruvananthapuram between June 5 and 8, which will also be attended by Politburo members. Corrective steps will be taken to address the weaknesses.
In West Bengal too, opinions are being taken from all the units and the state committee will finalize the review by the end of June. A similar process will be adopted in Tamil Nadu and Assam also. The party welcomed its comeback in West Bengal and the victory of its supported candidate in Mahe in Puducherry.
The CPI(M) said it will be at the forefront in raising the issues of the people, protecting their rights and opposing authoritarian and Hindutva-corporate attacks. Elected representatives will raise public issues in the assemblies. The party expected the new government of Tamil Nadu to abide by the promises of protecting the Constitution, federal structure, secularism and democratic rights.
The Central Committee said that the strengthening of Hindutva forces in West Bengal and Assam is a matter of concern. The party reiterated its resolve to continue the struggle for communal harmony and protection of public rights. There will be a comprehensive review meeting based on the state reports in the second fortnight of July 2026.
