Crackdown on doctors in Bihar, CM Samrat gave strict instructions
Patna. The state government has taken a big step to further strengthen the health system in Bihar. The government’s aim is that patients do not have to go to big hospitals for minor problems and they can get better treatment facilities in their district and sub-division level hospitals.
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has instructed doctors of government hospitals to avoid referring patients to big medical institutions without any serious reason. He said that first the resources and facilities available in local hospitals should be properly utilized.
Pressure on big hospitals will reduce
Often patients with common diseases are also sent to big hospitals, due to which the number of patients increases and serious patients face problems. The government now wants to improve this system. According to the new instructions, doctors in district and sub-divisional hospitals will have to fulfill their responsibilities and insist on treating patients there. Only patients in critical condition will be referred further.
There will be constant monitoring of hospitals
The government has also strengthened the monitoring system to improve health services. The Chief Secretary and District Magistrates have been instructed to keep an eye on the arrangements of the hospitals. Officials have been asked to review the hospitals from time to time and ensure that patients get timely treatment. A report will be prepared if any negligence is found.
Action against those who are negligent
The Chief Minister has made it clear that no negligence will be accepted in the treatment of patients. If a doctor is found referring patients without proper reason, action can be taken against him. The government says that it is necessary to increase accountability in health services, so that common people can get better facilities and they do not have to depend on far-flung hospitals for treatment.
Target of improvement by 15th August
The state government has also set a time limit for improving the health system. A target has been set to further improve the functioning of hospitals by 15th August. With this initiative, it is expected that health facilities at the district level will be strengthened and patients will get treatment in their own area.
