Action against PUC centers also
Delhi Transport Department has also taken strict action against the Pollution Control Centers (PUC) working irregularly. So far, 28 Pollution Under Control (PUC) centers have been suspended, while the licenses of two centers have been cancelled. Apart from this, the process of action has also been started against two other PUC centres. A police complaint has also been lodged against a PUC center at Delhi’s Gokulpuri police station for irregularities in issuing PUCC.
There should be no problem in getting PUC certificate.
Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh has instructed senior officials of the Transport Department to personally inspect all the Pollution Under Control (PUC) centers across the capital. The minister has given strict instructions to the officials to ensure that vehicle owners do not face any inconvenience in getting the PUC certificate made. Along with this, if any kind of irregularity, deficiency or discrepancy comes to light, the same should be immediately informed to the Minister, so that prompt corrective action can be taken.
Clean air is first priority for Delhi
Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “Along with strict enforcement action, citizen convenience is equally important in our fight against pollution. I have given clear instructions to senior officials to personally inspect the PUC centers to ensure that people do not face any problem in obtaining PUC certificates. Providing clean air to Delhi and providing transparent, hassle-free government services to every citizen is the top priority of our government.”
Action being taken in collaboration with Delhi Traffic Police
To completely curb the problem of fake PUCC certificates being issued in the name of vehicles of other states, Delhi Transport Department has sought cooperation from the Transport Department of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The Delhi Transport Department has appealed that both the states should ensure strict action against those violating the rules in their respective jurisdictions. The Department has reiterated that the enforcement operations under GRAP rules in coordination with Delhi Traffic Police will continue with full vigor. Under this, there will be continuous checking, monitoring of vehicles and action will be taken against those who violate the rules, so that pollution can be effectively controlled in Delhi.
