Major cities got priority in the first phase
In the first phase, four mobile forensic vans each have been allotted to Bhopal and Indore, while one van each has been given to Jabalpur, Gwalior, Rewa, Ratlam, Ujjain and Sagar. The remaining vans will be made available to other districts in the new year, so that forensic facilities can be expanded in the entire state.
Scientific investigation of scene of crime will be strengthened
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said that mobile forensic vans will prove to be a milestone in quick, accurate and scientific investigation of crime scenes. This will help in early detection of crimes, increase the conviction rate and strengthen the confidence of citizens in the police. He said that this initiative will give a new direction to forensic-based investigation in the state.
Cost of Rs 37 crore with the help of Central Government
These 57 mobile forensic vans received by the state have cost about Rs 36.94 crore, which have been provided with the help of the Central Government. Of these, 14 vans were received on 16 December 2025, which have now been sent to various districts.
Fully equipped van with state-of-the-art equipment
These mobile forensic vans have been installed with state-of-the-art equipment like stereo microscope, weighing balance, DSLR camera, mini fridge, LED TV screen, thermal printer and body-worn camera. Along with this, special kits related to fingerprint, blood and hair identification, DNA sample collection, gunshot remains, identification of explosives and narcotics, arson investigation, analysis of foot and tire marks, evidence packing and chain of custody should also be present in the van.
