Potato is the favorite vegetable of many people. Potatoes are added to almost every vegetable prepared at home. If you add potatoes to any vegetable, its taste doubles. Material

Potato – 1 kg
Rock salt/common salt – as per taste
Cumin – 1 tsp (ground)
Black pepper powder – ½ tsp
Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Oil – for frying

Method

  1. First of all, wash the potatoes thoroughly and boil them in the cooker. Keep in mind that the potatoes should not be mashed too much, just enough to get mashed well.
  2. Now when the potatoes cool down, remove the peel and make a smooth mash without any lumps. Add salt, cumin, black pepper, red chilli and asafoetida to the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  3. Place a little mixture on a polythene sheet or banana leaf and spread thin round papad with hand or bowl.
  4. Dry them thoroughly in the sun for 2-3 days. When the papads dry completely and become hard, then they can be stored. Fry in hot oil in seconds at meal time. Take out the papad as soon as it puffs up.

special tips

  1. The thinner the papad, the crispier it will become.
  2. It is very important to dry it completely, otherwise oil may splatter while frying.
  3. If you want, you can also fry them or make them in air fryer.
