Cristiano Ronaldo Shares Training Photos Ahead of Portugal vs Uzbekistan
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo shared images from a training session with teammates as they prepared for their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group stage match against Uzbekistan on Tuesday, June 23.
Posting on X, Ronaldo included several pictures from the session alongside the caption, “Focused on the mission.”
This follows a challenging performance by the 41-year-old in Portugal’s 1-1 draw with DR Congo in their opening World Cup match. Ronaldo struggled to make an impact, registering only 25 touches, three shots off target, and winning a single duel, as DR Congo’s defense tightly marked him.
The match represented one of Ronaldo’s lowest involvement games in World Cup history, marking the second-fewest touches he has recorded in a World Cup start and illustrating his limited influence in Portugal’s attacking efforts.
Ronaldo’s frustration adds to concerns over his recent form in major tournaments, as he has now gone ten consecutive matches without scoring in such competitions, despite his experience and status on the global stage.
Portugal defender Ruben Dias has addressed the recent criticism of Ronaldo, describing it as “noise” and a routine part of football.
Reflecting on the external comments surrounding the veteran forward, Dias stated the team remains unaffected and focused on its goals. “It’s not an issue for us,” he said, as quoted by One Football. “It’s insignificant, just a bit of fuss and noise. It’s all part of the game.”
“First and foremost, the criticism isn’t directed at just one player. Cristiano is a major focus of attention, but I think we’re all in the firing line. Above all, apart from what I’ve just said, I don’t think anything out of the ordinary is happening. It’s always been like this since I’ve been here. I believe it will continue to be so in the future. In the end, it’s noise. We isolate ourselves from it and focus on doing our thing,” he added.
With Portugal seeking to improve their performance in the upcoming fixture, focus will remain on Ronaldo and the team’s response as they progress in the World Cup campaign.
