Death toll in cruise accident rises to 13, search for one continues

Jabalpur. The death toll in the cruise accident at Bargi Dam in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh has increased to 13 after the body of a five-year-old boy was found on Sunday morning, while one person is still missing. Police gave this information. According to police, the nearly 20-year-old cruise operated by the state tourism department capsized during the storm on Thursday evening. Bargi police station in-charge Neelash Dohare said that the body of Mayuram (5) has been recovered, while the search for Kamraj (50), an employee of Khamaria Ordnance Factory, is going on.
He said that more than 200 rescue personnel, including about 20 divers airlifted from Agra, from the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local divers are conducting search operations in a radius of about five kilometers at a depth of 40-50 feet.
Police had earlier said that according to CCTV footage, 43 people were going towards the cruise. He said that so far the identity of 41 passengers has been confirmed, out of which 28 people were rescued after the incident.
The state government on Friday ordered an inquiry into the accident and dismissed three crew members. Also, operation of similar cruises has been banned in the state.
