CSK’s problems increase in IPL 2026, star young batsman Ayush Mhatre injured and out of the entire season.

CSK: Chennai Super Kings have suffered a major setback during IPL 2026. The team’s young opening batsman Ayush Mhatre has been out of the entire season due to a hamstring injury. The franchise has confirmed that the 18-year-old player will take 6 to 12 weeks to recover from the injury, due to which he has been ruled out of the entire tournament.

Was injured against Hyderabad

Ayush was injured during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 18 April. While batting, the young opener was seen holding the muscle of his left thigh while trying to take the second run. Even before getting out, he required first aid on the field several times and while returning, Ramakrishna Ghos and physio Tommy Simsek helped him out of the field. After this, a scan was done on Monday to find out the severity of his injury, after which he is out of the remaining matches of IPL 2026.

Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury sustained while batting during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.

Ayush’s injury will require a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks.

Big blow to CSK

Mhatre’s absence could prove to be a big blow for CSK, as the five-time champion team is already struggling to get its rhythm back this season. Recently Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs. Mhatre has scored the most runs for the team so far this season.
