CSK finally chases 200 plus target, LSG out of playoff race
The 53rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). CSK won by 5 wickets in this high-scoring match held at Chepauk Stadium on Sunday (May 10). When invited to bat first in the afternoon, LSG scored 203 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Chasing this huge target, CSK scored 208 runs in 19.2 overs and won the match.
This was the second biggest run chase of CSK in IPL. Also, for the first time after 2018, the team successfully chased 200 plus target. This was CSK’s third consecutive win. He has 12 points in 11 matches and has strengthened his position in the race for the playoffs. On the other hand, the remaining hopes of LSG have also ended.

Urvil Patel hits fifty in 13 balls
Sanju Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad gave a flying start to CSK in the big run chase. Both made an opening partnership of 45 runs in 3.4 overs. Sanju became the victim of Digvesh Rathi after scoring 28 runs in 14 balls. After this, Urvil Patel, who came to the crease, created havoc. Urvil hit fifty in 13 balls while raining sixes. With this he equaled the fastest fifty in IPL history. Due to his explosive batting, CSK scored 97 runs in the powerplay.
Urvil did not slow down even after the powerplay and took CSK to the score of 125/1 in 9 overs. Now the team needed only 79 runs in 11 overs. They were rapidly moving towards victory but their innings got derailed as soon as Urvil (65 in 23 balls) was out. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (42 off 28 balls) and Dewald Brevis (10 off 12 balls) left CSK in the lurch. Karthik Sharma made the team’s job difficult by scoring only 20 runs in 20 balls.
CSK needed 31 runs in the last 3 overs. At the crease was the pair of Shivam Dubey and impact player Prashant Veer. Prashant Veer kept the required run rate around 10 by hitting sixes in the 18th and 19th overs. Now CSK had to score 10 runs in the last over. LSG captain Rishabh Pant, after seeing two left-handed batsmen, handed the ball to Aiden Markram. Markram started the last over with two wides. After this, Shivam Dubey gave victory to CSK by hitting two consecutive sixes.

Josh Inglis gave a flying start to LSG after losing the toss and coming to bat first. English scored 77 runs in 25 balls in the powerplay, taking LSG to the score of 91/1. After this, CSK put a break on LSG’s innings by taking wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs. Jamie Overton dismissed Inglis (85 runs in 33 balls), Rishabh Pant (15) and Akshat Raghuvanshi (18). It became difficult for LSG to reach even 200 runs. In the end, Shahbaz Ahmed played an unbeaten inning of 43 runs in 25 balls, taking him beyond 200 but this also proved to be insufficient.
